Bringing a pet on holiday can often be ‘ruff’ but trust me, by the end of this blog you will be packing your bags & leads and heading to Medieval Ennis!
Are you considering whether or not to bring your special 4-legged animal on holiday this year? The answer is YES! Anything is ‘paw-sible’ when bringing your dog to Ennis. Medieval Ennis is a compact town with pedestrianised streets, dog friendly shops & cafes and amazing dog-walking spots.
Here are my top 5 favourite places to bring my dog in Ennis:
-
Lees Road
As you drive into Lee’s Road, you won’t find yourself barking up the wrong tree, thats for sure! This place has everything you might need. Follow the walking trail into the woods for an afternoon of fresh fresh air and doggy euphoria.
-
Ballyalla Lake
This is particularly nice for any dog that loves swimming! Located on the outskirts of the town, Ballyalla Lake is the perfect spot for a picnic, swim or even kayaking!
-
Tim Smythe Park
The Tim Smythe Park or as it’s known locally, the Fair Green, is an ideal spot to give your dog a bit of a run. Let him off the lead and throw the ball as far as you like. It won’t be long before he is panting and looking for water. What I love about the Fair Green is that you can bring the kids to the play ground, go for a run on the track and bring your dog all in the same place. Saying that, after all the exercise, a trip to McDonalds across the road might be on the cards!
-
Ballybeg Woods
A beautiful & majestic woods filled with flat and hilly trails. As you walk through these woods, your dog will be captivated by the nature that surrounds it’s wagging tail. It’s very important to listen out for the fairies however! The woods is full of fairy doors! Maybe your dog will help you spot them!
-
Ennis Town Centre
There is nothing better these days than a stroll through the town of Ennis. I’m not just saying that because I run walking tours of Ennis. I would like to give a big round of ‘ap-paws’ to all the shops & cafés in Ennis who allow dogs into their premises. I know my dog loves the Mountain Warehouse store on O’Connell Street and the staff at the Rowan Tree Café are always excited to see us coming as we dine on their covered balcony over looking the River Fergus.
As you can see there are some many places to bring your doggy while visiting Ennis. However, I am aware that you cannot bring your dog everywhere and you might want some alone time too. Fear not, Madrasorri has you covered. Síle and her team will take your dog in for the day and believe me, my it’s sure to be a ‘barking’ time!
Thats all from me. Until next time, Happy ‘Howlidays’!
