Doolin is an old fish village nestled beautifully at the bottom of the Cliffs of Moher. Doolin is no doubt a popular spot and over the past 2 decades, it has become the ideal holiday destination for Irish and international visitors alike. The more time you spend in Doolin, the more you won’t want to leave. It simply has a way of life that pulls you in like a magnet.
Accommodation is plentiful with most offering sea views and fantastic hospitality you won’t find anywhere else in the country. But while you are there, what should you do? What are the best things to do in Doolin?
Here is my list of the top 5 things to do in Doolin:
5. The Doolin Cave
Doolin Cave is an award winning visitor centre and home to a local attraction called the ‘Great Stalactite’. It holds the record for the longest free-hanging stalactite in all of Europe. It amazes visitors when they find out that it was formed thousands of years ago from just 1 drop of water!
4. Cliffs of Moher Cliff Cruise
You can view the Cliff’s of Moher by visiting the Visitor centre or by doing a cliff walk tour but if you want to view the cliffs from a different perspective, you better do this cruise! Head down to Doolin Pier and speak to the friendly boat staff from Doolin2Aran ferries or the Doolin Ferry Co about a Cliff Cruise to the Cliffs of Moher!
3. Fiddle + Bow Yard
Located to the back of the Fiddle + Bow hotel is the Fiddle + Bow Yard. This wide open outdoor hosts a popular coffeeshop serving Burren roasted coffee and doughnuts. It is the perfect place to meet up with friends or family to chill in a cool instagramable outdoor setting.
2. The Doolin Cliffwalk Tour
This tour is by far the best way to experience the Cliffs of Moher, particularly if you are the type of person who enjoys the outdoors and hikes. The tour begins in the heart of Doolin village and brings you along a breathtaking adventure alongside the cliff edge. This guided experience shows you a side to the cliffs that most visitors don’t see and through storytelling, the route is brought to life.
It’s important to mention that you won’t need to worry about booking a visitor centre or O’Brien’s Tower ticket. With Ollie’s Tours, admission to the visitor centre and O’briens tower is included!
1. The Doolin Food Tour
The Doolin Food Tour is for the people who don’t just want to explore Doolin but want to discover what food & drink is unique to the area. The small group tour is ideal for groups of friends or families. Check out this video to see more:
