Hey! My name is Ollie and having grown up in Clare, I was often brought to the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. As a child and an adult, I always loved visiting and took something different from the experience every time I was there.
Here are 3 ways you can experience Bunratty in 2021:
- Castle Only
This type of visit is short and sweet. You have arrived in Bunratty and only have a short amount of time before you are back on the road. The castle tour is quite something however and it would be a shame if you missed it while passing. The tour brings inside a medieval castle through narrow corridors to banquet halls and balconies. - Folk Park Only
For those less interested in the castle itself or don’t fancy heading indoors, you can stay outside and explore the 19th century folk park. During the summer there are animators present to bring the 19th park to life. Dressed in old 19th clothing, you will feel immersed as you discover the different types of cottages. Please note that this is a self guided and for an enhanced experience, we highly recommend taking a guided tour. - Bunrtty Castle & Folk Park Tour
The third option and often considered the best way to make the most of your time is by taking a guided tour of the folk park followed by a tour of the castle. Your tour guide will bring the park to life highlighting fascinating parts of the park unknown to most visitors. You will then have the opportunity to head inside the castle for another tour. Afterwards, you are free to explore the park further, have a pint in the local pub or even avail of the picnics available to purchase from the gift shop. The folk park is a great place to have a picnic with friends or family.
